JailBreak iPhone 3.1.2,3.1.3 using Spirit

Spirit

What's Spirit?
  • Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
  • Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
  • If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
Requirements
  • Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
  • An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
  • Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
  • Syncing with iTunes before trying this is highly recommended. (An issue has been reported where Spirit deletes the photos on the device. I will investigate this; in the meantime, please make sure your photos are backed up.)
Note: On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia's appearance is not final.)

Download the Spirit Application from here (Windows) and here (Mac).

For JailBreaking just run the application.

Note:*Important: If you have Windows 7 you may need to run Spirit in compatibility mode for Windows 98. Before launching right click Spirit.exe and select Properties from the contextual menu. Then from the Compatibility tab select Windows 98 from the Compatibility Mode dropdown. Click Apply then Ok.

Connect your iPhone and press the JailBreak button in Spirit App.
Spirit app will let u know when JailBreak is finished.
It will restart the iPhone and Cydia will be installed automatically.

You Are Done !

How to Find the Modern Firmware and Firmware version in iPhone

Well i always discussed about baseband, modern firmware and firmware in my blog and it seems some of you are familiar with these terms but some are new to this blog and they get confused with the technical terms.

Modern Firmware is Baseband and the latest version is 05.12 in Firmware v3.1.3 of Phone and this you can find by going to  Settings>General>About>Modern Firmware
Firmware is the Operating System of iPhone and the latest version is v3.1.3 and this you can find by going to  Settings>General>About>Firmware

Modern Firmware keeps on upgrading as the new Firmware version gets released by Apple but it is not necessary.

Jailbreakers  are able to crack the Firmware version but latest Baseband i.e. 05.12 till now no crack is available and that is the reason iPhone 3GS with the latest firmware v3.1.3 is not jailbroken yet. The Baseband which has been cracked till now is v05.11.

JailBreak iPhone 3.1.3 3G & 3GS using Sn0wbreeze v1.5

These steps are only for iPhone 3G and 3GS using Modern Firmware(Baseband) v05.11.
iPhone should be connected to usb and latest iTunes should be installed in your Machine.

Step1:Download the latest version of Sn0wbreeze from here for windows.
Step2: Start Sn0wbreeze and select “Simple Mode”.
Step3:Sn0wbreeze will now ask you to browse for your .ipsw file. Select the correct 3.1.3 firmware .ipsw file by clicking the “Browse” button. Sn0wbreeze will verify the selected file.
Step4:Click on "Yes" when Sn0wbreeze asks you “Do you want to activate your iPhone?” for hacktivation. Click on “No” only if you are on an officially supported carrier like AT&T.
Step5:Sn0wbreeze will now create the custom .ipsw file for your iPhone which will be jailbroken.
Step6:Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.1.3 that you just cooked using Sn0wbreeze for your iPhone. Click on your phone from the sidebar in iTunes and then press and hold left “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update” or “Check for Update”) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button. This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your custom firmware 3.1.3. Select that custom .ipsw file and click on “Open”.
Step7:Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps. Be patient at this stage and don’t do anything silly. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 3.1.3 on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, iPhone will restart automatically and you should now have a fully jailbroken iPhone running on firmware 3.1.3.

How to Downgrade iPhone 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01

These steps are not for 3GS users, it can only be possible for iPhone OS 3.1.3 with 05.12.01 baseband and older bootloader 05.08. Fuzzyband supports iPhone 3.1.3 to downgrade your 05.12.01 baseband to the older 04.26.08 which you have accidentally upgraded it.

Step1: To downgrade your baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08, you must first jailbreak your iPhone 3G running firmware 3.1.3 by using any of one these guides: Redsn0w 0.9.4, Sn0wbreeze 1.5, Pwnage 3.1.5
Step2:After you have jailbroken your iPhone, Go to “Cydia” on your iPhone and Search for “Fuzzyband” and then install this application.
Step3:Start “Fuzzyband” app and touch on “Downgrade” button to downgrade your Baseband from 05.12.01 to 04.26.08.
Step4:You should now be able to perfectly unlock your iPhone 3G using the latest version of Sn0wbreeze  1.5 by following the step by step guide posted in my Next Blog.

Jailbreak Baseband 05.12 in Firmware 3.1.3

The latest JailBreak of iPhone 3G with BlackSn0w is only possible with Modern firmware (Baseband) : 05.11.07 and the latest baseband updated through Apple is 05.12.... well sherif_hashim confirms that he has find a way to crack the latest baseband with firmware 3.1.3 but on the other end Dev Team has mentioned "While Apple’s 3.1.3 firmware was minor in terms of new features, it’s had the side effect of opening up a huge market for scam sites.  These sites will promise you a 3.1.3 jailbreak for newer devices like the iPod touch 3G, or a baseband 05.12 software unlock.  Those desperate enough to “just give it a shot” will find, 100% of the time, that they were misled.  After money has changed hands they’ll be told “well the 05.12 unlock is coming, in the meantime here’s the 05.11 unlock” (of course the 05.11 unlock was intended to be free, as you all know).  They’ll hold your money until one day the 05.12 unlock does come out, even if that’s months later (and of course it’ll be released for free).  In the meantime they’ll be able to claim they gave you part of what they advertised, and keep at least part of your money (in actuality they’ll usually keep all of it).
Don’t fall for these scam sites!  None of them have a 05.12 unlock, none have the 05.11 unlock working on 3.1.3, none have a 3.1.3 jailbreak for newer devices like the ipt3G.  They’re trying to capitalize on your upgrade mistake, and they only need a very small percentage of people to fall for them to make their money and run.
Those following twitter may have seen some recent very early developments in the 05.12 unlock situation.  One of our more helpful commenters sherif_hashim (at a rating of 84p you know he’s helped others much already!) found what looks like a very promising crash in the new baseband.  He’s put in a lot of work looking for crashes over this past year, and he’s still looking for more!  We’ve started to look at his crash but it’s a long road between any given crash and a fully working unlock, and we couldn’t put an ETA on it even if we wanted to.  It’s not even guaranteed that an working unlock will come from this particular crash — it’s just too early to tell.
In the meantime, please stay vigilant against these scam sites.  Don’t be part of the small percentage of people that fall for them because that small percentage is all they need".
